The events:
- Sprint (750m swim; 30km bike; 5k run)
- Olympic (you know the distances)
- Half Ironman (for the mentally
deranged)
The competitor categories:
- Open Men
- Open Women
- Masters Men (40+)
- Masters Women (40+)
- Clydesdale Men (198 pounds/90 kg and over)
- Athena Women (150 pounds/68 kg and
over)
The rules:
- Competitor must complete all 3 phases on one day between 1 January 2008 and 15 March 2008
- Phases may be completed in any order (because of equipment access issues in busy gyms)
- Equipment may vary (exercycle, bike trainer, treadmill, indoor track) but all phases must be completed indoors
- No substitutions of anything fun outdoors!
Boredom is an integral part of this event! Exception:
Those who are forced by circumstance to participate with one or more
outdoor phases can elect to start with a two hour time penalty to compensate for the
Fun Factor they enjoy.
- Transitions must be timed and reported, but
transitions will not be counted in total time
(because delays may occur which are not under the control of the competitor).
Purists may call this three time trials, if so desired.
Transition times will be used as tiebreakers.
- Keep it simple. If you have to make interpretations of any
of these rules or distance equivalents for your own particular situation,
do it in the interest of fairness and consistency and good sportsmanship.
Have fun and don't take it too seriously.
- If anyone wants to do the whole enchilada a second time to improve their performance times,
that's permissible up until March 8, 2008. (Results not received by 15 March 2008 will be tabulated
but marked DNF and not included in rankings).
Reporting results:
- Individual times (6 of them: swim time, T1 time, cycle time, T2,
run time, and any penalties earned for outdoor phases) must be
reported here no later than 15 March 2008.
- If you couldn't/didn't complete all
3 phases, you're still encouraged to send partial or DNF
results
